Credentials

Credentials, education, experience and common sense are important. You should expect your planning team to provide all of the above. The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification is the credential of choice for financial planning. A planner with this designation has completed a rigorous educational program encompassing all of the basic areas of financial planning, has successfully passed a difficult board examination, has had a minimum of three years of full time work experience in financial planning or a related field, maintains continuing education requirements and follows a code of ethics.

Certification as an IMCA Certified Investment Management Analyst is based on the experience and education an analyst has had. In today’s marketplace, the CIMA® license sets individuals apart as professionals who not only have in-depth management capabilities and hard-earned years in attaining those skills, they have completed extensive course work and passed rigorous examination which is held at one of the country’s most prestigious business schools. Continued certification is contingent upon meeting strict ongoing educational requirements and adhering to a code of ethics.

Developed in response to the need for advanced training within investment firms, the ACCREDITED ASSET MANAGEMENT SPECIALISTSM Professional Designation Program offers investment professionals the precise, hands-on information needed to provide ample, planning-oriented asset management advice. Study topics include understanding the asset management process, recognizing the best investment solutions for clients, considering investments in terms of risk and return, understanding asset allocation and strategies, and considering the special planning needs of high-net-worth clients and small-business owners. Regulation and ethics for the investment professional also are addressed. Individuals who’ve completed this program, pass a final exam, and sign a code of ethics and disclosure form earn the right to use the AAMS® mark.

Who Should Consider Us?

You might be wondering if you should really consider hiring an objective financial planner/investment adviser or whether you might just try doing your planning and investing yourself or if you should consider braving the sales culture of a brokerage firm. You should consider us if:

  • You don't have time to do it properly and have more interest in other areas of life that matter most such as family, friends, faith and other meaningful pursuits.
  • Your portfolio is such that you are no longer comfortable managing it yourself.
  • You have limited financial experience.
  • You have assets in multiple vehicles - 401k, IRA, mutual funds, etc. - and you want someone to create a unified "big picture" by organizing and consolidating your investments.
  • You need assistance with specific goals such as rolling over your retirement account, controlling the risk in your portfolio, etc.
  • You're frustrated from lack of contact from your current adviser or sales oriented broker if that's the case.
  • You feel the organization you're working with is more interested in 'making a sale' than helping you reach your goals.
  • You want an objective, professional perspective from a:
    • CFP® (licensed Certified Financial Planner® practitioner)
    • CIMA® (Certified Investment Management Analyst licensee)
    • CRPC® (Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM)
    • AAMS® (Accredited Asset Management SpecalistSM)
  • You want professional assistance to navigate unpredictable market conditions and the continual stream of new and complex investment opportunities.
  • You prefer a more personable, objective, independent firm for whom you are an important client.
  • You like the fresh oatmeal-raisin cookies and chocolate chip cookies baked fresh in our office for your enjoyment!

How Do You Compare To Our Typical Client?

  • Greater than $100,000 of investable assets.
  • Willingness to delegate investment management of your portfolio.
  • Willing to pay an independent, fee-based adviser a percentage of the assets being managed for you.
  • Interested in taking an integrated approach to your finances.
  • Ability to follow a disciplined plan in both up and down markets.
  • Openness in sharing personal information about your finances.
